Tree Trail

The Tree Trail has been set up by the Friends of Whirlow Brook Park, in conjunction with Sheffield City Council, to showcase some of the many fine trees that we are fortunate to have in this wonderful Park. The project has been a fine example of cooperation between the Local Area Committee (who provided most of the funding), the Parks Department (who selected the trees and put the posts in), the Friends’ tree trail team (who profiled the trees for the website) and the Friends’ volunteers (who have made the trees accessible). The plan is to have 50 trees on the trail. The first 34 trees have been chosen and are listed below with their assigned numbers and a link to a profile of the tree’s species written by one of our team . Gaps in the numbering have been left for the remaining 16, some of which await confident identification or improved access. Each tree is indicated in the Park by a post bearing a QR code with its number and a green label showing its name and scientific name. The QR code will direct your phone to its profile.

The map below is interactive. Click or, on a phone, touch your screen at the red dot for any tree and you will be taken to the page for that tree.

For those who might prefer a shorter trail, we recommend that you try one of the following subtrails and come back later for the others.
